Sustainability

At Salt District Brewing, sustainability is not just a buzzword; it's a way of life. We're committed to minimizing our environmental impact and supporting our local community every step of the way.

Local Production and Distribution

Our dedication to sustainability starts with our production process. We source our ingredients locally for seasonal brews whenever possible, Using only NZ Gladfield in the brewhouse alongside NZ Hops.

Our spent grain (grain left after the brewing process) goes to local farmers to feed there pigs. Our commitment to community extends to our distribution, ensuring that our brews are readily available to our neighbors in Whangamata and surrounding areas. Being in the center of town, Often you will catch Liam or Norm delivering kegged beer to our customers down Whangamata’s main drag by means of a good old fashioned keg trolley!

Say Goodbye to Cans

At Salt District Brewery, you won't find any single-use cans OR plastic riggers in our lineup. We've eliminated cans from our packaging to reduce waste and minimize our contribution to the ever-growing landfill problem. Instead, we've opted for a more sustainable approach.

Reusable Flagons

We're proud to offer reusable flagons as an eco-friendly alternative. Our customers can purchase these flagons, enjoy our craft beers, and return them when they're ready for a refill, We can then sanitize and sterilize these heavy duty flagons for there next top up!

It's a simple yet effective way to reduce packaging waste and promote sustainability.

Accepting Other Vessels

We believe in flexibility and choice when it comes to sustainability. While we encourage the use of our reusable flagons, we also accept other suitable vessels brought in by our customers. This open approach allows everyone to participate in our sustainability efforts, making it easy for our community to be part of the solution.

At Salt District Brewery, sustainability isn't just a commitment; it's a shared journey with our community. Together, we can raise a glass to great beer and a healthier planet. Cheers to a more sustainable future!
